  • Stoves and outdoor connections

Inside and outside the home

We handle gas line installation and repair, appliance connections for ranges and cooktops, fireplaces, barbecues, fire pits, BBQ boxes, conversion kits, shut-off valves, earthquake shut-off valves, and underground gas lines. A new appliance connection and a repair call need different preparation. Describe the fixture, its location, and whether the line already exists when you get in touch.

If you smell gas

Leave the area first. Once outside, call the FortisBC emergency line at 1-800-663-9911 or 911. Do not use a phone or electrical switch while you are still inside. FortisBC’s gas-leak guidance has the full steps.

Questions about a planned connection

What should I share about a new gas appliance?

Tell us what appliance you plan to install, where it will go, whether a gas line already reaches that location, and whether the product has been chosen. A photo of an accessible model label and the proposed location can help the first conversation. Do not move or open equipment just to take a photo.

Is an outdoor connection different from an indoor one?

A BBQ box, fire pit, and stove have different locations and installation details. Share the intended use and any existing connection so the team can identify what needs to be assessed. For a suspected leak or gas odour, follow the emergency guidance above before arranging routine work.
